What makes Start Caring Wellness Fitness Boot camp so unique from other bootcamps?
There are a number of major differences:

  • The instructors are all certified and highly trained.
  • All the Instructors put your safety and proper technique first.
  • We have a chiropractor and physicians who advise us on program safety and work with our participants for optimum performance.
  • Start Caring Wellness Inc. is the ONLY 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in this state that is tackling the worldwide epidemic of obesity through hands-on training. You can feel good that your money is going to help a great cause.
All donations made to Start Caring Wellness are Tax Deductible.
  • Other camps are usually held in parking lots or in parks. This is EXTREMEMLY dangerous to your joints, knees, ankles. The type of training we do you must be on a safe surface in the best facility possible. We also have use of indoor facilities in case of bad weather. Start Caring Wellness has use of the top stadiums and facilities in the state of Texas. Thanks to our supportive school districts, we are able to hold these camps to make a difference in our future!
  • You will receive the best of both worlds...the attention and discipline of one-on-one personal training combined with the support and fun of a social group and TEAM!
  • Our program recognizes the importance of balancing regular exercise with healthy eating in achieving optimal health. This is why we have a Registered Dietician on staff. You will receive regular nutritional counseling, access to our fully-interactive web site, weekly meal guidelines, tasty recipes, full nutrition programs and much more.

What is a regular day at Start Caring Wellness Adult Camp like and what types of exercises are included in the program?
Exercises include:
Abdominal & core work, short distance running (less than one mile), lunges, core strength, jumping rope, kickboxing, pilates, agility and speed drills, circuit training, medicine ball training, obstacle courses, push-ups, surprises, and more! This class/format is developed and designed by fitness expert Shellee Enfinger.

What is a typical day like at Adult Camp?
Each day is so different and it is intended to be that way. We don’t have typical days - if you wanted the same routine day after day, then you would probably join a fitness center. You can expect a mixture of cardio exercises, pilates, mat work, some running (less than a mile), weight training, obstacle courses, and jumping rope, and calisthenics (such as jumping jacks, push ups and sit ups). It's always an adventure, and you'll always have fun! Shellee and the other coaches will teach you a great deal about proper form and core stability. Each day is designed to be fun and different - and never boring. It is our job to make sure that you have variety in your workout.

What do I need to bring to camp? A water bottle, towel, good running shoes, and COMMITMENT!!

What do I need to wear?
On a hot day you need to wear comfortable, light colored clothes. Don’t forget GOOD RUNNING SHOES!!! Also, if it is cold make sure you layer your clothes, so you can shed off the clothes as your body heats up.

How soon will I see results?
You will notice performance improvement in as little as THREE DAYS. Visual Improvement can take from two to four weeks depending on your commitment level and how hard you push yourself. It is common to see as much as 3 to 5 pounds of weight loss after the first 10 days. Remember, everyone is different, so results will vary. RESULTS are GUARANTEED!!

What kind of people go to camp?
We offer something for almost everyone. Many people just need a little push to jumpstart their fitness program; others have a fitness program but are tired of the same old routine and are looking for something fun and different. Most participants have some history of exercise, but it’s not required. Both beginners and advanced exercisers will find camp to be a challenging and fun workout experience, Remember - ALL ages and fitness levels are welcome and encouraged! We have participants who have NEVER exercised before and we also have some who are competing in triathlons.

Is there a refund policy?
We can only give you a credit towards another camp if you are unable to continue with the one you began because of circumstances beyond your control. This is mainly for health reasons. Being "too tired" is NOT a circumstance beyond your control! This credit is non-transferable. If you cancel before camp begins there will be a $25.00 cancellation fee. Our Results Guarantee will be explained at your initial Camp.

What happens after camp is over?
During the post-camp evaluation, you’ll be re-measured so we can compare those numbers to the numbers from your initial evaluation. We will also re-test your skills test performed at the beginning of camp. We’ll show you the progress you’ve made over the course of the program, and answer any questions you may have.

Can I register for consecutive boot camps?
Of course! We typically have about 90 percent of our participants return for a 2nd, 3rd, or even 5th Boot camp. We offer a great price incentive for campers who return. The cost lowers each camp you attend.

How often will we meet?
Everyone will meet three days per week for five weeks. All participants will be expected to arrive on time. Check our calendar for dates and times.

What can I expect to get out of it?
The first and most important thing you will get is a sense of a healthy lifestyle. Camp exercises include programs designed to firm your butt and thighs, flatten your stomach, reduce body fat, and increase endurance, strength and speed. By losing fat and gaining muscle, you’ll lose inches and gain strength - and you‘ll look and feel better. In addition, you’ll meet great people who share your same goals for acquiring a healthier mind and body. We offer a MONEY BACK GAURANTEE that you will lose body fat percentage, weight and/or inches depending on your goals. The only catch is you have to commit to follow the program in its entirety. We have never had anyone who has not lost during the program. We are confident in the programs ability; you just have to TRUST the process. And to top it all off we’ll throw in a great Start Caring Wellness Camp T-shirt and a few other surprises.

What is the cost?
Each five week Camp is $199.00. That’s fifteen hours of instruction - which averages out to approximately $13.00 per hour. We also have a $25.00 Off Discount for Teachers—We appreciate all you do! We know that healthy teachers can help influence healthy kids. That is including the FABOULOUS Nutrition program with our Registered Dietician and your Body Fat Assessment before and after. This Body Fat Assessment has a $300 value. Personal trainers can typically charge $50 to $120 per hour for their services. This is a great chance to receive motivating fitness instruction by a certified and qualified Fitness trainer/Coach for just a fraction of the typical cost.

Do I have to go three days a week?
Yes you do!! We try to accommodate people if they have to miss their morning class by coming to the evening class, but your team starts to count on you being there with them. And you don’t want to let your team down.

How many people are in each camp?
The number varies, boot camp attendance averages between 15 and 40 people. The ratio of boot campers to fitness instructors will be approximately 15 to 1.

After I pay do I show up for class?
We like to keep things simple, but there’s a little more to it than that. First you must complete the registration form online and put down your deposit. On your first Bootcamp you must come to camp orientation. At camp orientation (usually the Saturday before camp starts) we will perform an evaluation takes about fifteen minutes (the results are strictly confidential, and are for your personal "post-camp" comparison only). You will also do your skills test that takes about 10 minuets and you will listen to the nutrition program intro given by our Registered Dietician. You will receive your food program and booklet at orientation. We will answer any questions you may have, discuss your medical history and any other questions or concerns at this orientation. When you leave orientation you will feel informed and confident that you will be successful at your camp.

When does the next camp start?
See Camps/Programs page for details.

What if I’m not very physically fit? That’s what we’re here for! NOBODY will be left behind or asked to complete more than they are capable of doing safely. Women and Men of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Each day will slightly increase in intensity.

Will I be sore sometimes?
Most people feel some soreness for the first 2-3 days. After that point, it is slight to moderate. This is all part of being in a great program that continues to improve your body physique and well-being.

Do I get a discount if I bring my friends or family?
If you refer someone you get $25.00 OFF for your next camp. This discount only applies to the FIRST camp they attend. One Discount per camp.

When is Graduation?
We have a small graduation at the end of every 5- week camp on usually the last Friday or Saturday of the camp. You will get your T-shirt and the "biggest Loser" prizes will be given out. Check our Camps/Programs for ending date.

The children will receive a T-shirt upon their initial registration, but more importantly…Exercise benefits every part of the body, especially the mind. Exercising causes the body to produce endorphins, chemicals that lead a person to feel peaceful and happy. Exercise can help some people sleep better. It can also help with mental health issues such as mild depression and self-esteem: If they feel strong and powerful, it can help them see themselves in a better light. It can help them improve their focus and participation in school. Plus, exercise can give people a real sense of accomplishment and pride at having achieved a certain goal - like beating an old time in the 100-meter dash. Exercising can help them look better; in fact, exercise is one of the most important parts of keeping your body at a healthy weight. We don’t focus on the numbers in this program, we just measure tier success with how they feel and some fun skills measurements in camp. Exercising to maintain a healthy weight also decreases a person's risk of developing certain diseases, including type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. These diseases, which used to be found mostly in adults, are becoming more common in you and teens. Starting these habits young are vital, we often hear parents say, “My kids aren’t fat, so I don’t really care about them exercising right now”, It is time to START CARING about their futures – RIGHT NOW!
